Black love is the ideal of unity and togetherness. It’s this ideal of strength shared between two people attempting to reach a common goal…
~So What Exactly Is “Black Love” | Panama Jackson
Hi friends old and new!
Happy Thursday. I hope you’re well <3
Monday was National Boyfriend Day. It was also my beau’s birthday. WHATTTTT!!!!!
So now I know when it is and lucky for me, I’m already celebrating his existence on October 3. ^.^
So I thought a quick “my boyfriend’s better than yours” post is appropriate this week. 😸✨
But while I am doing nothing short of praising my beau, this ENTIRE post, I’d like to share a quick thought about celebrating black love.
✨#BlackLove | Small Acts of Appreciation
As I was reading about National Boyfriend Day, this stood out ~
You know who doesn’t get enough recognition? Boyfriends. There’s a Wives Day, a Girlfriends Day, a Mother’s Day, a Woman’s Day, but none of these represent the wonderful person who puts up with you day by day, your boyfriend.
Now with that thought insert black. Get it?!
Ok. Here goes … to be frank, I don’t think our black men get nearly as much praise as they should. And I think that praise is even more important if they are capable of lovingly supporting a colorful piece of work such as a strong black woman, or an African-American alpha woman in general.
I think as women it’s easy to become self-absorbed – with ourselves, life, our own crazy, independence, doing it our own way, etc., often forgetting to reciprocate our appreciation for our significant other. Which can easily be mistaken as taking him/ his love/ his being for granted.
I know, for sure, I get caught up in my own crazy & forget allllll the time. >.<
So as for me and our black love, I try to practice small acts of appreciation like saying thank you (LITERALLY voicing it), trading a couple of hours work for a few hours with him (I’m a workaholic), putting my phone up so he has most of my attention, or even cleaning the cat’s litter box (it’s usually his job).
✨Celebrating Crank (& Ichini)
I’ll make you laugh quickly.
Crank and I made an official connection when I asked him to be my movie date for a Doctor Who feature.
He replied that he was more of a Star Wars guy but he was game. ^^ He also suggested a “first date” since the movie was some time away.
Some weeks later a cynical conversation of not wanting to like each other, having given up on relationships, and settling into our destinies of being alone with art happened …
And that’s the start to Crank & Ichini.
Enjoy our abbreviated story. <3
When you love a man, he becomes more than a body. His physical limbs expand, and his outline recedes, vanishes. He is rich and sweet and right. He is part of the world, the atmosphere, the blue sky and the blue water.

I’m thankful for Crank every day, whether I voice it or not.
All in all, it’s been an AMAZING journey! Two broken people from broken homes, with a lot of work to do on our selves. BUT here we are two years later and we are committed to experiencing a HAPPY & HEALTHY relationship and growing old … together.
Dearest beautiful black sisters, this #blacklove thing … you gotta try it! <3
Let’s keep in Touch!
