The hub of this youth-oriented, street-fashion craze is the area surrounding Harajuku Station in Tokyo.
And it’s not a new trend …
The movement got a boost when the 1964 Tokyo Olympics brought in waves of tourists and shops that catered to them.

Juxtaposed with Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, was NYC’s first ever Harajuku Fashion Walk. When I found out about it, it was first things first – check the day, date, & monies. Once of that checked out, solo or naw, I was definitely going to make the road trip for this bit of goodness. It’s been a while since I have been able to indulge in any J-fashion type meet-up so my soul needed this! The next thing was to make a few calls to see if anyone else I knew would be in. By a few, I mean … I’ll call Jamilla 😛 We were long overdue for a hang out and I thought she would definitely enjoy it as she taps more into her magical girl/ J-fashionista side by way of Geek Girl Brunch.
Like many, she was a bit discouraged by her wardrobe. However, I have seen the glory that comes out of her closet so I gave a kind nudge. “You have something, I’m sure! You just need to tear your closet apart and start trying things on.” Offering my help, we styled via text and she was more than pleased with the outcome. Unsure of what to wear myself, I threw somethings together for a fairy kei ensemble to stand next to her pastel grunge inspired look. The best part … we were both bunnies!
Le Coord~
Being super busy in “le life de tattouage” for 2014, I haven’t had much time for living it up kawaii style. Not only have my social events been lagging, but so have my co-ords. Though Fairy Kei, my look of the day was fun, but nothing severely special. Here’s the rundown~
Sweater: Target
Skirt: Bodyline
Sneakers: Puma Clyde’s
Accessories: off brand
The DAY …
Meeting up with the kawaii trap lord, Jamilla -bka- Girl Gone Geek (I swear it’s never enough time with her haha) was a cinch! After adding a bit of deco and catching up on light geek girl gossip, we were ready.
So let’s get the day’s party started … Shall we?! ~
B!TCH The Kawaii Life Chose ME! >.<
Kawaii ~ it’s not just a word, it’s a lifestyle! And I swear there’s a fashion to fit whatever your definition of a kawaii lifestyle is! You know … to keep it trill, be you, and bring it full circle, yea?!
From sweet lolita to visual kei, there was a little something represented from every walk of Japanese street fashion life ^^
The Walk
*singing* it’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood~

TRAPPIN’ … Like a BAWSE!
… and taking selfies & making friends along the way *boop!*
I could NE~VER get away with this sh!t in the hood. But I hope it hits there soon~
Time’s Square! … What’s poppin’?!
The day was super fun! Shy me even made a few new friends. Oddly enough they were just as shy but we’ve come together over good stuff so I couldn’t be mad or complain if I wanted to. We painted the day BRIGHT!
Be sure to check out my friends, Otakus & Geeks! And as always, thanks for looking.
~je t’adore!
