Hi friends old and new!
I’m back again with more from art with kids this summer.
The second class I taught this summer was Comic Book Heroes. (you can read about the first class, Cartooning, here)
I am pretty sure that kids signed up for something American comic book character related. Instead … Pokemon GO had other plans for our lives. haha
Since it was already two weeks into Pokemon GO’s existence, kids were riled up with drawing and fixated on finding time to run about playing Pokemon GO. So we adapted and made Pokemon a (huge) part of the week’s curriculum.
With the huge interest in Pokemon, we decided that we’d remix comic book heroes into PokeHeros.
Our class was split into three teams – Valor, Mystic, and Instinct (really?! did you think it’d be ANYTHING else) and each team set out to make PokeHero playing cards.
proud PokeHero artists
To see their art in action, their last set of cards were played in real Pokemon cards game by the Pokemon class. Have a quick snap of the action (⇩)^^
I think I’ll miss the little homies. Classes were colourful and they hustled HARD! I couldn’t be more proud <3
